BOYS BASKETBALL
It was a great week for Blue Devil Basketball! They defeated Lake Zurich 51-49 in overtime on Thursday. Juan DelaCruz and Adnan Sarancic both scored 13 points for the Devils. On Saturday, The Blue Devils won 2 games at the Wheaton Warrenville Invite. In the first game, they defeated Wheaton Academy 57-42. Adnan Saracic led the way with 19 points. In game two, they defeated Morton in an exciting 72-63 overtime win. Juan DelaCruz led the way with 18 points. Jason Langevin chipped in 16 points. Alex Figueroa knocked down 5 three pointers for 15 points. Warren plays in the semifinal game Monday at 12:30 against Benet Academy. Then they are off until Saturday when they travel to Stevenson.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
It was a tough week for the Devils. They lost to Lake Forest 54-39. Stevenson won 58-30. On Saturday, they lost to Niles West 57-49. They hope to rebound this week with a home game against Badger High on Tuesday. On Friday, they travel to Mundelein. On Saturday, they are home against Vernon Hills High School.
BOYS BOWLING
The Blue Devils competed in the IHSA Regionals at Fairhaven Lanes on Saturday. Matt Alcala and Emilio Torres both qualified as individuals for the IHSA Sectionals next Saturday in DeKalb. Overall, the team finished 7th place.
GIRLS BOWLING
This past week the girls bowling team fell on Monday to Lake Zurich. They bounced back by sweeping Stevenson on Wednesday. Sophomore Rachel Flores-Mangaran had a career high 257 in game two and had a 565 series. Senior Taylor Kailin shot a 526 series. Freshman Natalie Nelson, in her first 3-game varsity series, shot 449, with games of 170 & 160. Overall, it was a great team win. Coming up this week, the Blue Devils face Libertyville on Tuesday and Waukegan on Wednesday, both at Bertrand Lanes, before heading to 3D Bowl next weekend to compete in the Wauconda tournament.
CHEERLEADING
The Blue Devil Cheerleaders had another successful weekend. They competed in the Grayslake North Invite, which is one of the most competitive invites Warren competes in. The varsity placed 8th out of over 20 teams. They also had their highest score of the season. The JV team placed 6th out of over 20 teams also. Next Friday. Warren will host the NSC Cheerleading Championships at the Almond Campus. The competition begins at 5PM. This is a great way to see our competitive cheer team and cheer them on!
DEVILETTES
The Varsity Devilettes placed 11th out of 31 routines at the competition in South Elgin. Coming up next is sectionals at Mundelein High School on Saturday. Performance time is 3:50. Come out and support the Devilettes! The JV Devilettes finished their competition season with placing 3rd in conference and placing 3rd out of 13 routines at the competition in South Elgin. Overall, they had an excellent competitive season and we are extremely proud!
GYMNASTICS
The girls gymnastics team had a busy week. Freshman Olivia Kaether placed 2nd on vault with an 9.35 in the dual meet against Stevenson. Junior Kayleigh Glickley placed 4th with a 9.0 and Senior Sharon Dhali placed 5th with a 8.8. On the uneven bars, Sharon placed 3rd with a 8.95. On the floor exercise, Sharon placed 2nd with a 9.2 and Olivia Kaether placed 4th with a 9.05. Sharon earned 2nd place all around with a 35.40. The varsity team earned second place overall and recorded another season high score!
The JV team took first place. Senior Alexis Krueger placed 1st on vault, 3rd on bars, 3rd on beam, 4th on floor and 2nd all-around. Freshman Grace Kelly placed 2nd on vault and 4th on beam. Sophomore Peyton Abraham placed 3rd on vault, 4th on bars, 4th on floor and 4th all around. Freshman Emelyn Pehler placed 2nd on floor. Senior Jakara Peterson-Perry placed 3rd on vault, 5th on bars, 2nd on beam and 3rd all around.
The varsity continued this weekend at the Lake County Invite. The girls did great. Olivia Kaether placed 5th on vault with a 9.45. Next up is Libertyville and a JV Invitational on Friday.
BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING
The Varsity and JV 1 team defeated Libertyville. JV 2 lost against to them.
Varsity went to Glenbrook South on Saturday for the Titian Relays. The Devils had some good swims.
Medal winners:
200 Backstroke Relay: 4th place: Dante Rinaldi, Peter Mikolitis, Natan Weiner, Jack Foster.
100 Yard Elimination Bobble Head Race: Jack Foster took 2nd place. Jack had to swim in three rounds of 100 yard swim in less than 10 minutes.
200 yard Sophomore Medley Relay:
3rd place - Robert Carlson, Evan Berndt, Caleb Levy, Ryan Sundberg.
The Devils don’t compete until January 28th with a home meet against Zion.
WRESTLING
This past Friday the wrestling Blue Devils swept Zion Benton at the frosh, junior varsity and varsity levels! The varsity won the home dual meet 52 -18 in front of a ton of Warrenites including future Warren wrestler from both Viking and Woodland Middle Schools. The wrestling Program would like to thank all the teachers and staff who braved the weather to watch us compete. This past Saturday the wrestlers dualed and were victorious against Rolling Meadows High School. Winning 54-9. The grapplers improved their record to 11- 7. Next Friday and Saturday the Devils will compete in the Lake County Invitational hosted by Antioch High School.
Coach Janecek wants you to plan ahead for senior night on January 31st. If you get an opportunity, please come out and congratulate theses 10 seniors who have had fantastic careers at Warren High School:
