BOYS BASKETBALL
The Blue Devils came through with a 58-47 win over Waukegan on Saturday. Juan DelaCruz led Warren with 19 points. They have a busy week ahead with road games all week. On Tuesday, they travel to Lake Forest. On Friday, they are at Zion and Saturday they go to Naperville Central.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Blue Devils lost to a very tough Lake Forest team 46-40 on Tuesday. On Friday, they lost to Zion-Benton 62-36. Wednesday is the last regular season game as the travel to Lake Zurich.
GIRLS BOWLING
On Saturday, the Blue Devils competed in the Regional Tournament held at Antioch Lanes, but after a strong start, fell short of advancing as a team to a very competitive field. Senior Brianna Haith earned a 4th place medal and advanced to the Sectional as an individual by averaging 197 over the 6 game series (1186 total pinfall). She ended the day with a 248 final game to solidify her 4th place finish. Senior Mayerli Gil averaged 161 on the day. Sophomore two-hander Brianna Smith averaged 157. Brianna Haith will represent the Blue Devils at the Zion-Benton Sectional being held at Sunset Lanes in Waukegan on Saturday.
GYMNASTICS
The girls competed at the Lake Forest Regional. Senior Sharon Dhali had an excellent meet and placed 4th on floor and 4th in the all-around, advancing to sectionals. Junior Kayleigh Glickley qualified at large on the vault and freshman Olivia Kaether also qualified on vault placing 5th. The girls compete in the sectional, at Mundelein high school, on Thursday. Meet starts at 6pm.
BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING
Both the varsity and JV levels lost to Mundelein this week. JV 2 competed in the open invite hosted by Stevenson. All the boys swam their season and life time bests. JV 1 and Varsity gear up for the NSC Championships on Friday and Saturday. Warren will host the diving portion Friday night. The swimming portion will be on Saturday at Lake Forest High School.
WRESTLING
The varsity wrestlers competed in the IHSA Regional this weekend. That being said the lower level wrestlers’ season came to an end and the junior varsity had some great results. Sophomores Christian Cardenas 4th and Jondell Vazquez 5th each placed in the conference tournament and look forward to a great offseason and a chance to get into next year’s varsity lineup. The following junior varsity place winners spent significant time in the varsity line up and took advantage of the extra matches at the junior varsity level. Junior Marlow Guadiana 3rd and Sophomore Sean Stichauf finished second in the tournament. Finally, Freshmen Zach Piszikiewicz 1st , Sophomore Neva Mitrovic 1st, and Sophomore Reyes Gonzalez 1st were all junior varsity conference champions! The varsity wrestlers placed second at the Grant High School IHSA Regional over the weekend. Warren had seven out of 14 wrestlers advance to Sectionals next weekend at Barrington. Senior Cameron Domke and Junior Joel Vandervere each won a Regional Championship and continue their successful seasons in hope to return back to the state tournament. Junior Isaiah Parker placed third in a very competitive 152lb bracket to also advance to the sectional and give himself a chance to compete again at the state tournament. Finally, Seniors Gino Ortiz and Armando Barrandey and Juniors Faris Abdallah and Zach Dabney all placed third to punch their ticket and give themselves a chance to compete in the sectional. Finally, Sophomore Zach Sutor and Senior Jiang Lei Steinlein each placed 4th and will have a chance to be an alternate next week in the sectional tournament.
