This is the first sports update for the school year! The Blue Devil varsity golf team competed in a tri meet against Libertyville and Vernon Hills on Saturday. The Devils took second place, shooting 315 as a team. Junior Andrew Cadiena shot a 74 earning a 4th place medal. Sophomore Nick Steinhilber shot a 76 for a 5th place medal. Junior Andreas Ackron shot a solid 81 and Senior Parker Martin shot an 84 for the Devils.
It has been 157 days since a Warren team has competed. But who’s counting? Currently, we have 6 sports competing in the fall season. They are boys and girls cross country, boys and girls golf, girls tennis, and girls swimming and diving. Our other traditional fall sports, football, girls volleyball, and boys soccer have moved to the spring season beginning February 15, 2021.
All sports look quite different than what we are used to. There are several limitations and safety guidelines in place to protect the athletes and coaches. Our coaches and athletes have adjusted quite well and have embraced the new normal of high school sports. I usually encourage our staff and parents to come out and watch the athletes compete. But at this time no spectators are allowed in any of our venues due to number limitations and safety guidelines set by IDPH.
Good luck to everyone on the first day of school tomorrow.
