BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
The Blue Devil cross-country team took 2nd place in the NSC Championship at the O’Plaine Stadium. It was a windy but very good day for the team. The 22 top finishers earn a NSC medal. Great depth really worked well for the team. Junior Luke Wiley took 3rd place. Sophomore Cole Kaether finished in 10th place. Junior Max Ziesler took 16th place. Senior Carlos Villa finished in 19th place and Junior Davis Lara finished in 20th place. Carlos Villa was the NSC Sportsmanship winner for the Devils. Next is the IHSA Regional at Grant High School on Saturday.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
The Girls’ Cross Country team took 4th place overall at NSC Championships at Warren Saturday. Medal winners for the Devils were: Sophomore Mia Pasha in 10th place, Senior Nicole Harrison in 12th place, Freshman Emma Leung in 13th place, and Senior Taylor Latza in 22nd place. Next Saturday the team competes in the IHSA Regional at Grant High School. On a side note, Piet Kreunen’s daughter
Skyler placed 3rd for Lake Forest.
GIRLS TENNIS
The season came to end on Saturday at the IHSA Sectional at Stevenson. The Devils had an extremely tough draw. Nonetheless, all of the teams had great seasons! The varsity finished with a 12-4 record overall. The program had an overall record of 34-10. Dana Fanizza was the NSC sportsmanship winner. Senior Olivia Wong finished her high school career as a 4 year varsity player with 82 wins! Congratulations to head coach Vince DeSecki and assistant coaches Michael Edler, Shannon Edler, and Mikayla Schultz for providing 50 girls a safe environment daily, and a fun competitive season!
GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING
The swimming and diving teams competed in the NSC Championships on Friday and Saturday. The team had a great day on Friday at the open and Diving conference. The Varsity and JV girls also had an outstanding day on Saturday for the swimming portion of NSC conference meet. At the open JV invite, each swimmer all had life-time bests and swam hard! At the NSC diving meet, Kayleigh Glickey placed 9th overall in her first 11 dive meet! The JV team swam amazing. All the girls had drops in their times. Sophomore Maddie Julius had a great day dropping almost 24 seconds in her 500 free time! On the varsity level, Grace Towson received the NSC Sportsmanship Award. Junior Grace Bevers had an outstanding day. She placed 2nd in the 200 IM with a new school record of 2:09.24. She tied for 4th place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.01. She also placed 2nd in the 100 backstroke. Senior Anni Stingle placed 3rd in the 100 Butterfly. Junior Hailey Benoit Placed 5th in the 100 backstroke. Next is the IHSA Sectional at Highland Park on Saturday.
