WINTER SPORTS UPDATES
BADMINTON
The girls Badminton team had a strong week of competition. On Tuesday ,they went to Zion and came away with a victory on the Varsity level 10-2 and JV level 15-3. On Thursday, they faced Stevenson. Always a tough opponent, the girls faced the challenge with grit and determination. Varsity lost 18-0 and JV lost 17-1. The novice level was able to gain some good experience but lost 11-4. The girls are back at it next week with 3 more matches against McHenry, Waukegan, and Lake Forest.
BOYS BASKETBALL
The Varsity Boys Basketball team lost to Stevenson last Wednesday night. Cooper Stacey led all scorers in the game with 11 points and Drew Dolan added 8 points. On Thursday night, Warren defeated Libertyville 49 – 42. Julius White led Warren with 14 points and Howard Mullen scored 9 points. Saturday, Warren played Waukegan and won 48 – 37. Cooper Stacey led all scorers with 16 points and Drew Dolan added 8 points. This week the Boys Basketball teams host Mundelein on Tuesday night and Libertyville on Friday night.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Warren started the week with a loss to Stevenson 54-27. Caroline Sharpe led the team with 8 points. The Devils came back strong with a 46-32 win over Grayslake Central 46-32. Sophomore Zion Levy dropped 14 points .Caroline Sharpe and Grace Lynch added 11 and 8 points respectively. Next up is Lake Zurich, Mundelein, and Libertyville.
BOYS BOWLING
It was an exciting week for Ethan Kailin and the boys bowling team. Ethan rolled a perfect 300 against Stevenson. Doing it once is an unbelievable accomplishment, but this is Ethan’s 3rd time with perfection in his bowling career as a Blue Devil! The Blue Devils defeated Waukegan. Warren was led by Ethan with a 598 series. This week they take on Mundelein and Libertyville.
GIRLS BOWLING
The girls bowling team lost to Mundelein. Kayla Cameron was the leader rolling a 501 series. This week the team takes on Lake Zurich and Stevenson.
COMPETITIVE CHEER
It was a great first weekend of competition for the Blue Devil cheer teams! The JV team took 5th place out of 21 teams at the Barrington Invitational. The varsity placed a very strong 2nd place out of 26 teams at the Crystal Lake Central Invitational. This week they compete in the Buffalo Grove, Johnsburg, and Huntley Invites.
COMPETITIVE DANCE
The competitive dance team had a good week as they gear up for the NSC and Sectionals this week. The JV team placed 7th out of 19 at Naperville North. They also placed 4th out of 9 at Deerfield. The varsity team placed 15 out of 25 at Naperville North. They placed 4th out of 17th at Deerfield.
GYMNASTICS
The gymnastics team was off from competition last week. This week they go against Lake Forest on Tuesday.
BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Varsity and JV lost to Lake Forest this week. The team swam some very good races. On JV Senior Cameron Beard placed 1st in the 200 Freestyle. Junior Daniel Mo placed 1st in both the 50 and 100-meter freestyle. Sophomore Guerin DeJong placed 1st in the 500 freestyle. On varsity the medley relay team of Dante Rinaldi, Alex Carruthers, Evan Berndt, Ryan Sundberg placed first. Junior Ryan Sundberg also placed 1st in the 100 freestyle. On Saturday, the varsity competed at the Lake County meet hosted by Stevenson HS. The medalists for the Blue Devils were:
The Medley Relay - 5th place: Dante Rinaldi, Alex Carruthers, Evan Berndt, Jake Snyder. The 200 Free Relay - 5th place: Dante Rinaldi, Evan Berndt, Alex Carruthers, Jake Snyder. Dante Rinaldi placed 5th in the 100 Backstroke. Alex Carruthers placed 5th in the 100 Breaststroke. Blake Vander-Jeudgt placed 5th in Diving. This week Warren travels to Waukegan for a dual meet.
