5/10- Tri Meet/Lake Zurich/Zion-Benton/Warren We had our senior night to honor our 10 seniors who are graduating as the class of 2021! It was special and momentous way to start off the meet. We would like to thank our 10 seniors and their families for all the sacrifices, dedication and support they have given us over the past few years. We lost a close battle to Zion-Benton in the meet on the Varsity level, with Lake Zurich pulling away from both teams and winning the meet down the stretch. Annika Bynum came out strong and won the High Jump for the Blue Devils with a height of 5'6. Kayleigh Glickley took 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 15'9. The 4 x 100 took first place! Adding up our win total in that event this season. Our 4 x 800 and Distance squad in general ran strong against a very tough Lake Zurich distance team. Nikkia Harrison and Mia Pasha placed 4th and 5th in the 800 meter run. Mia also placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run. 4 x 200 relay placed 2nd in the meet. Our Freshman class continues to represent us very well, with too many to name, on both levels!! Shout out to our 4 x 100 squad of Katelyn Moran, Bree Ghering, Lena Groth, and Anastasija Grazdanovska. These 4 Blue Devils competed in their first 4 x 100 meter race ever and competed strong. Nice job!
5/14-D117 Girls Invitational Your Blue Devils placed 4th out of 14 teams!!! Missing 3rd by just 3 points!. With some strong performances individually all around and with a few key athletes missing for rest and recovery, the end of the season is looking excellent for the Girls Track & Field Team. Kayleigh wins the open 200 right down to the wire!! Alyla Ditiangkin continues to dominate in the hurdles, placing 1st in the 100 hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles. Ama Baffoe runs a personal best in the 300 hurdles with a 1:00.88! Mia Pasha and Taylor Latza place 4th and 6th in the 3200 to score some great points! Our 4 x 100 places 5th! Fatime Naveed continues to run strong in the 400 meter dash since her first varsity invite a few weeks ago. Natalia Vondracek, Serena Bentum-Siripi and Katie Wiklund were welcome additions to the varsity squad, as they help the 4 x 200 place 6th for points! Carolina Martinez, Faith Gaston, and Izabella Wittwer do the same in the 4 x 100 (representing a strong freshman class). Izabella Smith continues to push her limits and set Personal Bests in both Shot and Discuss for the 2nd straight invite in a row! Annika Bynum ties the meet record and wins the High Jump with a jump of 5'4; looking strong going into county! Special Shout out to Izabella Alcivar and Payton Abraham in the Pole Vault. These two have been practicing their technique and craft with Pole Vault for weeks and hours, spending almost every minute of practice trying to get better on their own. It paid off, as they both placed in the meet and cleared starting height for the first time in their careers. Payton vaults 6'6 and Izabella vaulted 7'0. An amazing and much deserved accomplishment!!! This week, they are at Lake Forest on Monday and Thursday is the Lake County meet.

WRESTLING
Warren wrestled well but lost to Stevenson this past Friday evening. Sean Stichauf, Giannmarco Beltran, and Nevan Mitrovic wrestled well for the Blue Devils. Zach Piszkiewicz and Zach Sutor grappled very tough opponents and showed signs they are shaking off some of that VERY LONG OFF SEASON dust. Zach Dabney and Reyes Gonzales recorded wins for the Blue Devils with Gonzales scoring a pin over an opponent he has struggled against in the past! The lower levels had some highlights as well. Janis Lund found her first victory as a first year sophomore in a Blue Devil singlet. Jeremija Hixson and Joey DeVries each had two matches and recorded two pins. The entire frosh team are improving drastically and are gaining valuable experience they would not be given a chance to take advantage from during an ordinary season. Keep up the great work! This coming Friday your senior grapplers Zach Dabney and Nate Kowalke-Reinwald will wrestle at home for the final time! I would like to congratulate both on outstanding careers! Dabney will be taking his wrestling talents to the next level as he is signed to wrestle for the Polar Bears of Northern Ohio next season!
