10/10/21 Fall Sports Update


The #4 Ranked boys' cross- country team took care of business this week against Lake Forest and Waukegan. They boys put 10 runners in the top 12. They were off this past weekend as they tuned up for the Conference Meet at Zion. The boys have shot up the State rankings the last few weeks and look to start proving they belong as the championship season arrives.


The Warren Girls Cross Country Team were the champions overall of their last tri meet of the season! A perfect way to cap off the tri meet schedule and be primed for conference. The Blue Devils won against Waukegan, sweeping with a score of 15-45, and beating Lake Forest with a score of 26-32. Strong performances from the Blue Devils, as we earned 4th place, 6th place, and 9th place in the race on the home stretch of the race. The 2 wins on Tuesday puts the Blue Devils in the hunt for placing at the top of the conference meet on the 16th of October.


Blue Devil football defeated Mundelein 54-0.  Maurice Edwards led the way with 211 yards in only 8 carries! He also scored 5 touchdowns. Pretty amazing performance.  Ben Wilson returned an interceptions 70 yards for a touchdown.  Aiden Lucero threw a 83 yard touchdown pass to Jailen Duffie.  Charley Thompson had a 78 yard touchdown run.  The defense was tough once again recording another shut out.  This week Warren travels to Libertyville for a Friday night showdown.


The season came to an end for the boys golf team this week at sectionals. Nick Steinhilber was the lone competitor for the Blue Devils. He shot 79, which put him in a tie for 34th out of 112 golfers. Nick was also named to the NSC All Conference team.  Congratulations to all of the golfers and to coaches Dave Zaban and Ryan Bruno on a fine season.


The girls golf team’s season came to an end at the Sectional on Monday.  The team did not advance but they did a great job shooting 12 strokes less than they did in Regionals. Congratulations to the team and coaches Leigh Ann Mondrawickas-Boncher and Demetri Georgatsos on a great season which included a IHSA Regional Championship!


It was a big week for Blue Devil soccer! They defeated Libertyville on Tuesday 2-1.  This win put them in position to win the NSC Championship on Thursday. The Devils defeated Lake Forest on Thursday night to win the conference championship!  This back to back NSC titles for the Blue Devils!  Against Libertyville, Miguel Garcia and Alexis Medina scored for Warren.  Against Lake Forest, Matt Paraskos and Braden Lechner scored.  For the two games George MacAtee had 7 saves, 5 of them against Libertyville.  This week, the Devils host Glenbrook South on Monday, play at Antioch on Tuesday, and host Lake Forest Academy on Thursday.



This week the team takes on Waukegan on Thursday and competes at the Deerfield Invite on Saturday.


 Girls tennis finished their regular season with a strong win over Vernon Hills to bring their season dual meet record to 20-2. In the NSC they ended up finishing 3rd with 3rd place medals going to Kaija Johnson/Elizabeth Peyton at #2 doubles and Isha Bordawekar/Nithya Kommanaboyina at #4 doubles.


 Varsity – went 4 – 3 this week, 21 – 12 overall record, and still undefeated in conference with the record of 5 – 0. Varsity took 10th place out of 20 teams at Scholastic Cup. Looking forward to conference match on Wednesday night at Libertyville.

JV - had a successful week going 2-0 in matches vs. Niles North and Mundelein. Their work on team consistency in the last few paid off and contributed to their victories.

Sophomores – went 1 – 0 with a big conference win against Mundelein! Daria Rodriguez (libero) continues to play great defense and make hustle plays to help her team win.

FA – The freshman A team had a long week of games. They started the week losing two tough games. Over the weekend, they played in the Evanston Freshman Tournament, ending the weekend 1-3.

FB – went 1 – 1 with a good win against Niles North.
