WRESTLING
Varsity Wrestling:
Your Wrestling Blue Devils used the holiday weekend to begin their season while continuing to get back into a state of normalcy in wrestling and athletics. Blue Devil varsity team went 1-3 over the weekend with a win against Grayslake Central and losses to Barrington, Joliet West and Wauconda. Missing 6 of 14 weight classes is a tough hole for any team to overcome, yet seniors Zack Sutor, Reyes Gonzales, and Nevan Mitrovic and junior Zack Piszkiewicz continue their leadership roles in guiding your grapplers to success. As three year varsity starters, each of these wrestlers has chosen to press on through some very difficult times and they continue to make Warren proud! YOUTH will be a theme this season! First time varsity starters junior Evan Onstad and Sophomores Carlos Ordonez, Jose Ordonez and Jeremiah Hixson received their first victories in a varsity singlet, with many more to follow. Finally, Josh Yoder, frosh, stepped up and received his first varsity win. With varsity wrestlers getting down to weight and filling in some holes, and some younger guys stepping into spots they might not be ready for -- Is anybody ever ready? – I am certainly looking forward to your average completely bananas season. Ding Ding!
