BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
The boys cross-country team is led by Bill Dawson. Bill is starting his 43rd year as a coach! Bill’s assistants are Jason Jecman and Joe Stubenvol. The team opens the season on Wednesday against the Zee Bees of Zion.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
The head coach for the girls cross-country team is Brett Heimstedt. His assistants are Louie Klein and Don Proft. The girls start the season off on Tuesday running against Zion.
BOYS GOLF
Dave Zaban is the head golf coach. Ryan Bruno is his assistant. Varsity lost to Grayslake North 168-175. The top scores were: Nick Steinhilber with a 41. Andreas Ackron and Parker Martin both shot 43. Andrew Cadiena came in with a 48. The JV team had a great week. They smoked Grayslake North 182-204. They were led by Charlie Badgley (Soph) 41. Tristan Knoll (Frosh) 44. Nick Carpita (Soph) 48. Vaughn Hartnig (Soph) 49. Drew Deney (Soph) 49. On Saturday, they won The Libertyville Invite against Libertyville, Mundelein, Grayslake North, Grant, and Vernon Hills! Top Scorers were:Charlie Badgley (Soph) 85, Vaughn Hartnig (Soph) 85, Nick Carpita (Soph) 88, and Tristan Knoll (Frosh) 92. Next up is Deerfeild for the JV on Monday and NSC competition begins for both levels on Thursday against Zion.
GIRLS GOLF
Leigh Ann Boncher leads the girls golf team. Her assistant is Demetri Georgatsos. The girls defeated Grant in its first home match of the season at Bittersweet. Senior Sydney Bornhorst led the team with a 41. Also scoring for Varsity: sophomore Alaina Goeden 47, sophomore Mia Cosnotti 50, and sophomore Ally Badgley 53. Juniors Mia Bornhorst and Kylee Wiltse also played Varsity. Freshman Sophia Pas led the JV with a 50. Also scoring for JV: sophomore Gracie Haupt 53, junior Olivia Pas 57, and senior Megan Flesher 70. The varsity team placed 4th in the Libertyville Invite at Shepherd’s Crook on Friday with a 359. The top scores included: Sydney Bornhorst 85, Alaina Goeden 86, Mia Bornhorst 86, and Ally Badgley 102. The Devils don’t tee it up again until September 1st against Lake Zurich.
GIRLS TENNIS
The head coach is Vince Desecki. He is assisted by Mikayla Schultz and “The Edlers” Michael and Shannon. The season opens up on Tuesday against Grayslake Central. They then take on Barrington on Saturday.
GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING
Head coach Chris Bertana is back for another season at the helm. He is assisted by Sam Korstanje, Carly Wright, and newcomer Kyle “The Diver” Ehemann. The girls take to the water on Saturday against NSC foe Libertyville.
