BASEBALL
Warren started off the season with a 7-4 win against Fremd on Wednesday. Ryan Risch went 2-4, with a double. Max Thompson 1-3, with 2 RBI’s. Sophomore Adam Behrens was the winning pitcher for the Devils. On Saturday, the Devils took 2 from Lane Tech. They won the first game 4-2. Adam Behrens got the win and Adam Schilz got the save. Ryan Risch and Albert Jaquez both hit doubles for the Devils. In game two Warren won 3-0. Ryan O’Toole and Adam Schilz both hit doubles for the Devils. Warren improves to 3-1 on the young season. This week the Devils take on Zion on Monday and Tuesday, Vernon Hills on Wednesday, and Grayslake Central on Thursday.
FOOTBALL
Blue Devil Football took care of business with a 48-0 win over Mundelein. The Devils record now stands at 5-0. Friday will be the last game of the shortened season. They will take on Libertyville.
BOYS LACROSSE
Blue Devil boys lacrosse open their season on April 26th at home against Grant.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Girls Lacrosse had their first contest at Vernon Hills on Saturday since Spring 2019. Our players looked strong, hungry, and ready to take on this season. JV worked hard, but Vernon Hills came out on top, with a final score of 12-5.
Freshman Emily Meyers lead Varsity with goals, scoring four. Lucy Moore and Julia Werner both scored three goals each with two and four assists, respectively. Talia Schmidt, Avery Bishop, and Alexa Kiefer each scored one goal, bringing our Varsity squad to have 13 goals for the first game of our season. We stuck with Vernon Hills the whole game. Despite our best, Vernon Hills prevailed with a final score of 22-13. This week the Devils take on Barrington on Tuesday.
BOYS SOCCER
Blue Devils Soccer finished their season on Saturday undefeated and one the best teams, if not the best team in the state. This week was the NSC Tournament. On Thursday, they defeated Waukegan 5-0. On Saturday, the defeated Mundelein in the semi-final game 3-0. Ishaan Shah, Bradley Strauss, and Miguel Garcia all scored for the Devils. Nic Diana had 3 saves. Warren then defeated Stevenson 5-2 in the championship game. Ishaan Shah scored 3 goals and Noe Martinez scored 2 goals for the Devils. Warren finished the season undefeated at 15-0! Congratulations to the entire team and coaches Jason Ahonen and Ryan McCabe for an incredible season!
GIRLS SOCCER
Coach McCabe was doing double duty over the weekend as the girls season kicked off Saturday at PepsiCo Invitational. Warren defeated Whitney Young 2-0. Amber Langosch and Samantha Pullins each scored a goal. Myka Smith and Trish Georgiou combined for the shutout. This afternoon Warren defeated Plainfield South 7-0 for the PepsiCo Invitational Championship! Liza Matimore and Emily Soriaga each scored 2 goals for the Devils. Amber Langosch, Katelyn Crowson, and Ella Skelton each scored a goal as well. This is a big invite and a great way to start the season.
This week they go against Grayslake Central on Wednesday and Naperville Central on Thursday.
SOFTBALL
The softball season get underway on Monday against Zion-Benton.
BOYS TENNIS
The Warren Boys Tennis team played their first matches in 2 years! The varsity boys had a successful week going 3-1 for the week. The boys defeated North Suburban Conference Rival Lake Zurich 7-0 to start the season. They followed that win up with a 2-1 weekend at the Warren Blue Devil Varsity Quad. Warren defeated Grayslake Central 4-1, Crystal Lake South 3-2, and lost to Huntley 3-2 in a very tight match. The JV team had a perfect 4-0 start to the season. Defeating Lake Zurich 6-0, Grayslake Central 5-1, Huntley 4-2, and finished off Crystal 6-0. The boys are back in action this week playing Stevenson, Glenbrook South, and the Hersey Team Invite on Saturday.
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
The boys ran at Grayslake Central on Saturday in a last minute meet to help prepare for the season. Overall the meet was a success as many athletes improved their personal bests in their first outdoor meet of the year, and the first outdoor meet since May 2019. Most notably Griffin Pasha ran a 4:21 in the mile and is currently ranked number one in IL. Other strong performers were freshman Ryan Moats in the 800 with a time of 2:06, and junior Dan Patronik winning the 200m Dash. The meet was not scored but it was definitely nice to be back on the track competing. Their next meet is currently scheduled for April 26th vs. Stevenson
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
The girls team is gearing up for their first competition as well on April 26th against Stevenson.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
The boys team played their first match since May 2019. It was great to be back in the gym competing. JV was the only team that was successful this past week against Loyola Academy. This week they play Vernon Hills on Thursday and Niles North on Friday.
Senior Zach Moreano signed to go to Augustana College to continue his volleyball career.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
The varsity team took 3rd place at NSC tournament, the sophomore team took 4th place, the freshmen A team took 4th place, and the freshmen B team took 7th place. Congratulations to all! Senior Maddie Hoffmann received the conference sportsmanship award. The team finishes up the season with a busy week. They play Grant on Monday, Wauconda on Wednesday, Vernon Hills on Thursday, and Niles North on Friday.
BOYS WATER POLO
The varsity Devils had a tough week, but they are working hard and looking for a W this week. The JV team defeated Vernon Hills. This week they take on Highland Park on Monday, Lake Forest on Tuesday, and McHenry on Thursday.
GIRLS WATER POLO
Girls Varsity had a nice win against Vernon Hills this week. Jessie Oehlerking led the team with 4 goals, Kiele Newton had 2, and Alaina Goeden, Erika Baelum, and Maddie Julius each had one. Faith Harris had an impressive 22 saves in the goal! JV was not able to grab a win, however they had a great showing this weekend against Libertyville and Palatine. This week, they take on Highland Park and Lake Forest.
WRESTLING
The wrestling team starts a little later than the rest of the teams as they begin on April 19th. Their first meet will be on April 30th against Lake Forest.
