BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
The boys cross country team had a great week of competition. They beat Libertyville and Mundelein on Tuesday. They are now 3-0 in the conference. The boys continued their winning ways at the Bill Dawson Blue Devil Invitational. The boys varsity team won the Varsity race by 64 points. Luke Wiley ran the 3 mile course record in 14:34, shattering the old record by 14 seconds!! Completing the varsity for the Blue Devils were Cole Kaether in 3rd, David Lara in 4th, Ryan Moats in 13th, Nate Garcia in 19th, and Fahim Rafi in 21st. The boys JV squad took 5th overall and were led by Calix Flores in 3rd, Jake Snyder in 16th, Clay Cottrell in 29th, Connor Lockwood in 37th, and Henry Lester in 38th. The Frosh/Soph boys were 11th and were led by Kimi Vesely’s 3rd place finish. The boys travel to Janesville to take on some of the best teams in Wisconsin next weekend.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Libertyville/Mundelein Tri Meet
The Girls Cross Country ran at a tough course at Adler park on Tuesday. We split the meet, beating Mundelein with a score of 20-32, but lost to Libertyville 18-36. All the girls ran smart and more importantly ran competitively. The girls got themselves ready to race fast at the Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday.
Bill Dawson Invitational
The Girls Cross Country Team did an outstanding job at our home invitational on Saturday 9/18! Out of 18 teams, The Frosh/Soph Team placed 6th, Varsity placed 2nd, and the JV team placed 1st overall at the meet. In a competitive field of runners, the Blue Devils showed the field they are ready to compete at all levels. All the girls ran tremendously and competed to the best of their abilities. So many great things to share about the meet. Congratulations to our award recipients of the meet- Justyce Sieber placing 16th in Frosh/Soph, Athlete of the Week Mia Pasha placing 3rd in Varsity, Victoria Higgins placing 8th in Varsity, Emma Leung placing 12th in Varsity, Grace Wiser placing 26th in Varsity, Morgan Vawter placing 29th in Varsity, Kylie Florance placing 2nd in JV, Brook Sturt placing 4th in JV, Lia Tondeva placing 6th in JV, Delaney Juenger placing 12th in JV, Sophia Iaconis placing 16th in JV, and Alexandra Borland placing 19th in JV. Special shout out to our seniors- Alexandra Borland, Brook Sturt, Sophia Iaconis, Fatima Naveed, and Chloe Yoder for all they have brought to the Girls Cross Country program at their last home meet and throughout their time as high school student athletes. Next Saturday, the run at the Blackhawk Invitational in Janesville, Wisconsin.
FOOTBALL
Blue Devil football trounced Lake Zurich 42-0 raising their record to 3-1. Friday night they are back at home against Stevenson.
BOYS GOLF
Blue Devil Boys golf had a successful week. On Monday, the Devils beat Lake Forest Academy 165 to 177. Top scores were: Nick Steinhilber 38, Andreas Ackron and Vaughn Hartnig 42, Rohan Iyer, Tim Greisser and Alex Welder 43. On Tuesday, the Devils lost a close one to Lake Forest High School 168-172. Top scores were Nick Steinhilber 42, Vaughn Hartnig and Alex Welder 43, Rohan Iyer and Anders Johnson 44. Next week the Varsity plays for the NSC Championship Tuesday at Veterans Memorial, plays Carmel Wednesday at Pine Meadow and is in the Lake Forest Invite on Saturday.
