BADMINTON
The badminton team is coached by Brett Heimstead. His assistants are Julie Filippo and Jeff Knouse. Badminton have a big first week. They open on Tuesday against the Cougars of Vernon Hills. They host Waukegan on St. Patrick’s Day. On Saturday the varsity competes in the DeKalb Invitational.
BASEBALL
The baseball team is coached by Clint Smothers. The varsity assistants are Dan Word and Keith Stocker. The JV team is coached by Cory Clark. Vincent Vitale and Ricky Lee coach the freshmen. With some luck and very dry weather the baseball team hopes to start Saturday vs. Lane Tech.
BOYS LACROSSE
The lacrosse team is coached by Greg Janczak. His assistants are Justin Van Schaick, Mike Eddy, Robert Clarke, Dan Ryan, and Alex Cresenti. The team hopes to have a little luck of the Irish with their opener on March 17th against Homestead High School. On Saturday they host Marist HS.
GIRLS LACROSSE
The girls lacrosse team is led by Mikayla Schultz. The assistant coaches are Bob Thompson, Bethany Finnerty, and Elizabeth Knapp. They start on March 22nd with a home game against Mc Henry.
GIRLS SOCCER
The girls soccer team is coached by Ryan Mc Cabe. His assistants are Heather Crawford, Kelsey Armour, Rich Armour, Kerry Keifner, and Sal Uriostegui. Soccer kicks off the season on Tuesday against New Trier.
SOFTBALL
The softball team is coached by Jenna Charbonneau, Bryan McNulty, Ryan Skidmore, John Hergenreder, and Kinsey Jasnoch. The team is hoping to open the season on Monday at the Barrington Tournament.
BOYS TENNIS
Boys tennis is coached by Michael Edler, Shannon Edler, Vince DeSecki, and Courtney Sunday. The season begins on March 22nd with a home match against the Bulldogs of Wauconda.
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
The boys track team had a busy weekend with many outstanding performances and several indoor school records broken. It all started with Luke Wiley running at the National Indoor Championships in New York on Friday. Luke finished with a time of 9:05.12 and took 13th overall out of 80 runners. This time broke his previous school record of 9:14 seconds.
Friday night the freshman and JV squad traveled to Glenbrook South for a quad meet. This meet was not scored, but the Blue Devils had some solid performances. Standouts for the freshman were Parker Wilkerson, Mekhi Cabell, and Cameron Beckom in the 55m dash and 200m dash.
On Saturday at North Central College the Varsity and Frosh/Soph team ran against some tough competition. Out of 10 schools, the varsity team finished in second place by only a point and half. The frosh/soph team finished in 3rd place overall behind two really good teams. Both varsity and frosh/soph competed extremely hard and the results reflected their efforts. Here are some of the highlights.
- David Lara won the mile in a time of 4:29 seconds. This sets the new Warren indoor record, and is the 8th fastest mile time in school history.
- Jailen Duffie sets the indoor 200m school record with a time of 22.89 and is the 4th fastest 200m time in school history. Jailen also won the 55m dash in a time of 6.63 seconds.
- The Varsity 4x2 team of Jailen Duffie, Charley Thompson, Dan Patronik, and Bryce Niebrugge set the school indoor record with a time of 1:33 seconds
- Max Zeisler finishes 3rd in the mile with a time of 4:30. This time ranks him in the top 10 mile times in school history.
- Aaron Ayobami took 2nd in the 400m run with a time of 52.31. Joell Belonga was right behind him to finish 3rd.
Frosh/Soph Level top performances
- 4x4 team of Trey LeBeau, Eddie Lim, Zach Pilgrim, and Kim Vesely run 3:43 to place second overall. This time breaks a frosh/soph school indoor record and is also good for the fastest time in school history.
- The 4x2 team of Trey LeBeau, Eddie Lim, Zach Pilgrim, and Antonio Moore finish 3rd overall and set a new indoor school record.
The team travels to Carthage College next Saturday.
Coaching the Blue Devils this season are head coach Josh Williams. His assistants are Jason Jecmen, Rocco Oddo, Chris Caballero, and Joe Stubenvoll.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
The head coach for the girls track team is Tom Malkowski. His assistants are Cheryl Anderson, Sherrie Barta, Louie Klein, and Tab Steinhaus. The Devils go to Carthage College on Friday.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Boys volleyball is coached by Yun Chen. His assistants are Keith Kremkau, Kyle Arnold, Jen Swanson, and Brianne Honda. They open the season on Monday, March 21st at New Trier.
BOYS WATER POLO
Boys water polo is coached by Kim Lobitz and Erin McClory.
Boys Water Polo came out strong in the season opener against Vernon Hills. Freshman Brandon Morales led with 5 goals, Senior Jake Snyder and Junior Ivan Morales each had 3 and Senior Daniel Mo and Sophomore Daniel Garcia each had 1. The Devils played tough defense the entire game. Junior goal keeper Guerrin DeJong had 10 saves in an exciting road game. Varsity won 13-10. On the JV level the Blue Devils scored 7 unanswered goals in the first period and their defense held the Cougars to 5 total goals in a 15-5 victory. This total team effort included goals by Senior Cris Salido (4), Sophomore Daniel Garcia (4), Sophomore Billy Lawling (3), Senior Jacob Simmons (2), and Junior Jackson Lobitz (2). Junior goal keeper Will Bairstow had 7 saves.
On Friday night the boys played a tough game against a state ranked Waubonsee Valley followed by a solid win over Buffalo Grove. Saturday morning was a battle against McHenry that ended in a 8-7 W with :17 seconds remaining with an outstanding shot by Junior Ivan Morales. The Blue Devils played Deerfield in the final game and ended their first Varsity tournament since 2019 in 4th place out of 8 teams. Current record 3-2.
The Blue Devils are back in action at home on Monday vs Wheeling. Varsity plays at 5 pm followed by JV.
GIRLS WATER POLO
Girls water polo is coached by Carly Wright and Kyle the Diver Ehemann. The season begins on Monday at Wheeling High School.
