BADMINTON
Girls Badminton had a very competitive week. On Tuesday the girls fell to Glenbrook North 33-21. SCORECARD. Wednesday the Frosh/Soph girls played against Evanston and came away with a strong 16-2 victory. SCORECARD. Saturday the girls headed to Hinsdale South for the ABCD tournament. This tournament hosts some of the best individual players and doubles teams in the state. The girls fought hard and were 8th out of the 14 teams. Madu Chander was 2nd in the B bracket. Molly Cummings made it into the A bracket. Keira Rodriguez was in the top 8 of the C Bracket. Reyna Hill was in the top 4 of the D Bracket. Karen Kim and Huong Ho were in the top 8 of the B bracket. Faith Cabalfin and Sam Gebusion were in the A bracket. Shelly Manila and Pavneet Kaur made the top 8 of the C bracket. Falisha Anwar and Ashley Bridges made the top 8 in the D bracket. The girls take on New Trier on Monday before hosting the Varsity Conference tournament on Friday. JV will play their conference tournament on Saturday.
BASEBALL
Warren lost to Stevenson on Monday 4-1. They came back tough and took down the Patriots on Thursday 5-4. The Blue Devils were led by Kendall Lyons who threw a complete game with earned runs. Adam Berhens was 3-3 with a double. Charlie Badgley was 2-4 with a double. Anthony Font was 2-3 with 2 RBI’s. After 1.5 inches of rain on Friday the Devils were still able to play Wauconda on Saturday. They lost a tough one 6-4. Adam Behrens led the way with a double and a home run. Warren is now 12-4 on the season. This week, they are home Monday vs. Waukegan. They are at Waukegan on Tuesday They play home again on Thursday against Carmel.
BOYS LACROSSE
What a week! It felt great to be back out there competing against some other schools. On Tuesday, JV dropped a tough one, but Varsity pulled out the victory over top 5 rated Wheaton Academy 7-5. Varsity continued its winning ways on Wednesday beating conference foe Libertyville 11-2. Both JV and Varsity beat Glenbrook North on Saturday to cap off a great week of lacrosse. Senior attack Clayton Bewick tallied 12 goals this week while goaltender Bobby Devenport was a brick wall only letting up 12 goals in those same three games. There is a LOT of great lacrosse happening. We have a HUGE top 5 match up on Saturday vs. York at Noon! We hope you can be out there supporting us!
GIRLS LACROSSE
V&JV:
Both teams had a close loss to Latin this past Monday. Games against Libertyville were rescheduled due to our official's shortage! Both teams played very aggressive Crystal Lake Central teams which ended with losses. Varsity's Avery Bishop had an outstanding game admist the challenging CLC team. The varsity payed a rare Sunday home game this afternoon against Kettle Moraine HS. They lost a tough one 9-8. Varisty has games on Wednesday at home against Lake Zurich and will be away against Carmel on Thursday.
FS:
Hard fought loss against Evanston at home on Monday. Grace Sherman did great in the goal. Played hard in the cold and snow against GBN on Tuesday to win 5-1! Had a closely-matched game with beautiful weather against Crystal Lake Central that ended in a tie, 4-4. This week goals were scored by many different players, but some of the top scorers were Madison McNeil, Violet Thompson, and Kylie Conner. Tough defense played by Rae Jezuit, Mia Mann, and Lily Muetz. The FS team continues their season by traveling to Huntley on Tuesday and an Evanston tournament on Saturday.
GIRLS SOCCER
The varsity Blue Devils competed in the highly competitive Naperville Invite this week. They defeated Fremd 1-0. Alex Brock scored the lone goal of the game with an assist by Ella Skelton. The backline of Liv Ehlers, Paige Hogberg, Mia Gloria, Emma Paraskos, Ava DeNapoli with GK Trish Georgiou adding 5 saves earned the shutout. Warren lost the second game of the invite 2-1 to Oak Park River Forest. Alex Brock and Ellas Skelton hooked up again for the goal. Trish Georgiou had 7 saves. Warren is now 7-2-2 and will play Stevenson in NSC action on Tuesday.
SOFTBALL
The varsity defeated Libertyville 9-4 and Mundelein 17-3. They competed in the Marengo Invite on Saturday. They lost to Marengo 5-1 and Oswego East 11-9. The JV2 lost to Grant 14-7. But they came back and defeated Antioch 10-8 with a big 6 run 6th inning. They also defeated Mundelein 17-5 in 5 innings.
BOYS TENNIS
The Warren Boys Tennis program had a great week of competition!
Varsity- The Varsity tennis team had a tremendous week. The week began with a loss to traditional state power Lake Forest on Tuesday. However, Thursday the boys put together a complete team win by defeating Libertville 5 matches to 2. Three matches going 3 sets with Warren winning all 3. The match was won virtue of a third set victory by seniors Sam Marsh and Kevin Vrabel at 3 doubles. The varsity team traveled to Lockport to compete in the Lockport Invitational on Saturday winning the 8 team tournament in convincing fashion. Winners included juniors Evan Wong and Arjun Shah at the Doubles “A flight”, Seniors Rohan Iyer and Justin Ward at Doubles “B flight” and Senior Kyle Mueller winning at singles “B flight”. Kyle’s victory featured him losing only 5 games the entire day to secure a dominating victory. The tennis team continues this week playing the “Spirit of the Northwest” Tournament at Lakes Community High School on Monday and then traveling to Mundelein for a conference meet vs. the Mustangs before hosting Zion Benton in their last conference duel of the season. The week ends with participating in the Lakes Invitational on Saturday.
JV- The Junior Varsity Boys team continued their strong performance. Like the varsity, they lost to a tough Lake Forest team 5-2 on Tuesday. On Thursday they dominated the Libertyville boys tennis team, winning 6-1. Sweeping the singles matches were Sophomore Brandon Paasch, Senior Joey Robino, and Junior Ansh Shah. With the Varsity and JV victories over Libertyville, this makes two straight seasons where the boys tennis program has a full program sweep of Libertyville. The JV team finished their week placing 2nd at the Schaumberg Invite. Their upcoming week includes a home match vs. Mundelein.
JV2- The JV2 team played “up a level” playing half of the Mundelein Varsity and JV team on Tuesday. While they played valiantly, they lost to the Mustangs. Leading the way was Sophomore Jonah Block-Glickman and Freshman Shrishant Hattarki. The JV2 team competes vs. Carmel at home on Monday and traveling to Antioch on Thursday.
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
On Friday the Varsity team competed in the Bob Cohoon Invite at Downers Grove South High School. In a very competitive meet, we finished 10th overall out of 16 teams. Here a few of the highlights from the meet.
- Danny Lin finished 2nd place overall in the discus with a throw of 123 feet.
- Ryan Moats ran 2:01 to finish 4th overall in the 800.
- Nathan Garcia won his heat and ran a PR time of 4:40 in the mile.
- Ryan Alyassir won his heat in the 3200m run and set a new PR time of 10:19
On Saturday five Warren distance runners ran in the Palatine Distance Night among the very best runners in the state of Illinois and other surrounding states. David Lara ran in the mile, Max Zeisler, sophomore Kimi Vesely, and junior Caleb Levy all ran in the 800, while Luke Wiley ran in the 3200. Caleb Levy finished 6th overall and ran a time of 1:55.35, nearly breaking the school record in the 800. He ranks 4th in the state of Illinois and now has the second fastest time in school history in the 800. This week we compete against Lake Forest and Waukegan at Waukegan on Monday, and then travel to Rolling Meadows for an invite on Friday.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
The Girl’s Track and Field Team competed on Saturday at Glenbard West High School. At the Varsity level Jada Vaughn ran a 13.06 second 100 meter dash and Faith Gaston ran it in 13.5 seconds. Carolina Martinez ran the 200 meter dash with a new personal record of 28.40 seconds. Sophia Iaconis ran the 400 meter in a time of 1 minute and 6 seconds. Caralyn Whalen ran the 800 meter in a season best time of 2 minutes 42 seconds while Delaney Juenger ran the mile in a time of 7 minutes and 3 seconds. Kylie Florance and Lia Tondeva both ran in the 3200 meter run with times of 13:28 for Kylie and 13:59 for Lia. The 4 by 100 meter relay team of Jessica Randolph, Faith Gaston, Carolina Martinez, and Jada Vaughn continued to fine-tune their teamwork by running their race in a time of 52.65 seconds. The 4x400 team of Caralyn Whalen, Delaney Juenger, Fatima Naveed, and Sophia Iaconis ran their race in a time of 4:49. In the field events, Alyssa Garcia-Lewis and Valeria Garcia both continued to improve in their throwing events with the girls throwing 20.66 meters and 13.15 meters respectively in discus. Valeria nearly broke her season best with a throw of 6.32 meters in shot put as well. Paula Garcia-Nieto jumped to a new personal record in the long jump with a distance of 4.15 meters. The meet also had a Frosh/Soph competition in addition to the Varsity one which gave the younger girls on the team a time to shine and show what the future of the program holds. Heaven Adams was busy on the day placing 5th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.52 seconds, being a part of the 4th place 4x100 meter relay team along with Katie Wiklund, Ayanna Pettis, and Sanaii Vaughn. The 6th place 4x200 meter relay team of Heaven, Katie, Ayanna and Sanaii finished their race in a time of 1:58. There were new personal records in the 800 meter run by Justyce Sieber and Sloane Finerty with times of 2:54 and 3:05. Joselyn Schenk ran a new personal record of 7:11 in the 1600 meter run as well as Emily Towson running a new personal record in the 3200 meter with a time of 13:51. The 4x400 meter relay team of Justyce Sieber, Kimora Wright, Katie Wiklund and Ayanna Pettis ran to an impressive time of 5:03. The 4x800 meter relay team of Dara Santin, Ellie Hanner, Justyce Sieber and Emily Towson grabbed an 8th place finish with at time of 11:32. The performances by the Frosh/Soph team were good enough to finish in 16th place as a team in a very tough competition. Next week the team hosts Lake Forest and Waukegan on Monday and then Varsity heads to Grayslake Central on Thursday for the Lake County Invite.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
It was a tough week for the Varsity. They opened the week with a loss to Barrington on Monday and Stevenson on Wednesday. Over the weekend they competed in the Downers Grove South Invite and went 1-4. They continue to be competitive and are getting better every day. This week they host Glenbrook South on Tuesday and Waukegan on Wednesday.
- JV went 0-2 during the week with losses against Barrington and Stevenson. On Saturday, they competed in the Lake Park Invite and went 2-2, defeating Metea Valley and Hinsdale South, and lost to Lake Park and Evanston.
Frosh/Soph- Frosh/Soph went 0-2 this week. They played their best game this season against Stevenson and look more like an experienced team each game we play.
Freshman went 0-2 this week. They played very well going three sets against Stevenson, and then going three sets against Barrington’s Frosh/Soph team.
BOYS WATER POLO
On Tuesday the Blue Devils took on Lake Forest for senior night. JV won 14-4 led by Jackson Lobitz with 7 goals, Jacob Simmons with 4 goals, and Billy Lawling with 3 goals. Varsity played a great game against a fast and tough on defense Scouts and lost 10-15. Leading scorers Ivan Morales with 6 goals, Brandon Morales with 2 goals, and Daniel Garcia with 2 goals. On Wednesday the Blue Devils hosted Highland Park. JV won 11-0 led by Jackson Lobitz with 4 goals, Jacob Simmons with 3 goals, and Rahul Vepuri, Chris Stoll, Daniel Garcia and Ryan Sundberg each scoring 1. In the Varsity game Warren played a great game winning 14-6 led by Daniel Garcia with 4 goals, Ivan Morales with 3 goals, Jake Snyder 3 goals, Brandon Morales 3 goals, and Daniel Mo with 1. This week the Varsity team heads to Fremd for a triangular tournament on Saturday as they prepare for the IHSA Sectional
GIRLS WATER POLO
Girls water polo play at Deerfield on Monday, at Barrington on Thursday, and at the Prospect Invite on Friday and Saturday.
