BADMINTON
The badminton season included over the weekend with Molly Cummings representing Warren at the IHSA Badminton State Tournament. She played tough against some of the best players in the state. The team had an outstanding season! Also congratulations to Coach Brett Heimstead as he coached two sports this season with athletes competing in the state finals, including 2 All-State cross country athletes!
BASEBALL
The varsity team lost two tough games to Libertyville. They played two games on Saturday. The Devils lost a tough game to Wilmot 4-2. Jeremy Walton led the Devils with a home run. In the second game on Saturday, they defeated Catholic Memorial HS in extra innings. Tim Palazzolo drew a walk in the 8th inning scoring the winning run!
BOYS LACROSSE
The Varsity boys lacrosse team improved to 16-3. This past week the team put up some huge numbers beating Mundelein 22-2 and Stevenson 20-3. We lost a tough one on Saturday to #1 ranked Loyola 15-7.The Blue Devils have two games left in the regular season. Monday is Senior Night where we will be recognizing our 11 seniors as we take on Barrington at 7:00 in the stadium. Tuesday is another home match at 7:00 vs a tough Maine South team.
The JV team competed this past weekend in the Stevenson JV Tournament and finished in third after a gritty win against Libertyville and Glenbrook North and having a tough loss while being shorthanded to Stevenson. They will also finish up their season on Monday and Tuesday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Girls Lacrosse had HUGE week with 4 contests at the Varsity level. They went 3-1 on the week! 3 of the 4 games were conference contests. On Tuesday, the team took down Mundelein 17-8. On Wednesday, the team put up the programs best score against a tough Stevenson team with a loss of 10-14. On Friday, we hosted Libertyville, and our defense from Chloe Sim, Gianna Schmidt, Paola Villagomez, Skylar Donaldson, and middies defense from Avery Bishop, Lucy Moore, and Julia Werner earned the victory of 15-12. This is the first time a Warren girls lacrosse varsity team has taken down Libertyville! This big victory put the Devils in 3rd place in the North Suburban Conference just under Lake Forest and Stevenson. Previous years we’ve been #5-#6 in conference play. On Saturday morning, our girls played Resurrection in Chicago and had a fun victory 22-2 giving every field player at the game a goal. This now brings us to a 9-8 season record! Next week Warren plays Barrington on Monday, and the following week is the start of IHSA Sectional play vs. Carmel.
GIRLS SOCCER
The varsity Blue Devils defeated Lake Forest 2-1 on Monday. Katelyn Crowson scored for the Devils with the assist by Reese Mertens. Then Reese scored the second goal and was assisted by Ella Skelton. Goalkeeper was a wall, as usual, with 4 saves. Warren finished 2nd place in the very tough NSC with a 5-0-2 conference record. Thursday was senior for the Blue Devils. They defeated one of the top 2A teams, Deerfield 5-0. Ella Skelton led the way with 2 goals and an assist. Katelyn Crowson, Addison Stanciak, and Kylie Mahoney all scored as well. Reese Mertens had 3 assists on the day. Emma Paraskos also had an assist. Trish Georgiou had 7 bigs saves for Warren. The Blue Devils finished the regular season 11-3-4. They play Elk Grove at Fremd on Tuesday in the IHSA Regional.
SOFTBALL
The Blue Devils had two more big wins to take control the NSC with 1 week of league play remaining. This week they take on Libertyville Monday at Warren. On Tuesday, they play at Lake Forest. On Thursday they finish the regular season with a game at Evanston.
BOYS TENNIS
Varsity-The Varsity Tennis team competed in the North Suburban Tennis Tournament clinching 3rd place overall. Medalist for the Blue Devils are as follows:
3rd Singles: 3rd place for Kyle Mueller
2nd Doubles: 3rd place for Sam Bogot and Sanjiv Kondin
3rd Doubles: 3rd place for Rohan Iyer and Justin Ward
4th Doubles: 3rd place for Sam Marsh and Kevin Vrabel
JV- The Junior Varsity Boys tennis team competed in the JV North Suburban Conference Tennis Tournament. They took a resounding control of third place-sweeping Libertyville at all 7 spots. The highlight was the first doubles team of Henry Lester and Muhil Ramesh taking 2nd place, defeating Lake Forest in the semifinals in three sets!
The season continues for the boys competing in the IHSA sectional tournament hosted at Warren’s Almond Campus beginning on Friday at 2pm.
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
On Thursday the varsity and frosh/soph teams competed in the NSC Championship meet at Libertyville. The varsity dominated the conference and won the meet with 173 points and finishing 71 points ahead of the second-place team! It was the first outright conference championship since 2006. On the Frosh/soph level, the blue devils finished in 2ndplace, only 3 points behind the winning team. The varsity team won 8 out of the 18 events, and took 2nd in 6 others. Warren scored in every event except for the pole vault, and had multiple events where they placed two individuals.
Here are some of the highlights:
-4x800 relay team of Nathan Garcia, Cole Kaether, Ozzie Bandera, and David Lara fight off Lake Zurich in the end to win conference.
- Luke Wiley wins the 3200 and Kimi Vesely came in 2nd.
-Jaden Turner won the long jump on his final attempt in epic fashion.
- John Venisnik won the triple jump and took 4th in the high jump.
- Caleb Levy won the 800 & Max Zeisler came in 2nd.
- Luke Wiley won the mile and David Lara came in 3rd.
- Jailen Duffie won the 200 in a time of 22.68. Jailen also finished 2nd in the 100m dash from the slow heat and was the anchor leg on the 2nd place 4x1 relay.
- Aidan Porreca finished 2nd in the discus with a throw of 140 feet.
- The 4x4 came from behind to close out the meet in victory. Joell Belonga ran down a Libertyville runner to take home the win and end the night on a high note. Max Zeisler, Aaron Ayobami, and Nathan Garcia were the other members of that team.
Of note on the frosh/soph level, all three sprint relays took 1st place. The 4x4 relay team of Cameron Beckom, Darryle McDaniel, Zach Pilgrim, and Jose Lim broke the frosh/soph school record with a time of 3:42.18. Up next is the IHSA Sectional meet at Grayslake Central on Thursday to qualify for the State meet.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
The Blue Devils compete in the IHSA Sectional on Thursday. Junior Mia Pasha won the 1600 meter run to qualify for the ISAS State meet in Charleston this weekend. This will Mia’s second state meet of the year. She placed fifth in cross country in the fall earning All-State honors! Good luck Mia!!
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
All levels had a rough week, going 0-2 against Libertyville on Wednesday and Lake Park on Thursday. This week wraps up the regular season with a match Monday at Antioch and senior night Wednesday against Lake Forest.
BOYS WATER POLO
This week boys water polo concluded this week. On Monday, they defeated McHenry in a opening round sectional game 13-6. On Wednesday, they lost a tough game to Mundelein 14-4.
GIRLS WATER POLO
The girls season came to an end in the sectional quarterfinal. They lost to Highland Park 10-2.
