BOYS BASKETBALL
The Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Waukegan last Tuesday night 64-43. Adnan Sarancic had 22 points, Jason Langevin had 21 points and Juan DelaCruz added 16 points. The Varsity lost a close game to Libertyville on Friday night 62-57. Adnan Sarancic led Warren in scoring with 20 points, Jason Langevin had 15 points and Juan DelaCruz scored 10 points in the loss. The Sophomore Boys Basketball team split the two conference games. They also defeated Waukegan and lost to Libertyville. The Freshmen won both game this week and so start their conference season 2 – 0. This week the Devils take on the Lake Forest Scouts in a Friday night conference game at the Almond Campus.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
This week the Devils went 1-2. They lost to Waukegan 49-45. Macy Kocen led the way with 16 points. Grace Lynch dropped in 14points for Warren. They also lost to Libertyville 56-27. Grace Lynch was the leading scorer with 7 points. The Devils defeated Woodstock North 41-36. Macy Kocen was the leading scorer with 10 points.
BOYS BOWLING
The Blue Devils won a nail biter over Waukegan 2950 to 2945! Ethan Kailin led the way with a 634 series. Jake Harrison had a 604 series and Matt Alcala had 594 series. On Tuesday, Libertyville came to town. They defeated the Devils 3135 to 2766. Matt Alcala led the team with a 594 series. Joe Smith had 563 series. On Wednesday, the team traveled to Lake Zurich for the 3rd straight NSC showdown. The Devils came through with a 2958 to 2714 victory. Leading the way was Ethan Kailin with a 694 series. Also bowling well was Jake Harrison with a 589 and Jarrett Smith with a 581. Warren hosted the 2nd Annual Blue Devil Invite on Saturday. Emilio Torres earned a medal for high series and for high game. The Devils have home matches on Monday and Tuesday against Graylslake Central and Stevenson.
GIRLS BOWLING
The girls started the week off on a high note with a 2228 to 1724 win over Stevenson. Briana Haith led the way with a 536 series. Jocelyn Parra and Mayerli Gil bowled a 471 and a 451. On Tuesday, the Devil defeated Mundelein High School 275 to 1945. Briana Haith rolled a 534 to pace Warren. Taylor Kailin bowled a 465. On Wednesday, the Devils lost their first match of the season with a very close 2379-2373 loss to Libertyville. Brianna Haith bowled a 539 series. Both Mayerli Gil and Jocelyn Parra rolled 499 series. The Blue Devils are currently 3-1 in NSC conference play, with an overall record of 4-1. On Saturday, the Blue Devils competed in the annual Strikefest tournament that hosts some of the best teams from all over the state and after a great morning, found themselves in the Silver Division for the afternoon. Gil led the day for the Blue Devils, posting her first 200+ game of her career in the morning (204), and a 555 Series, then besting it with a 210 in the afternoon, to finish with her career first 1000+ pin tournament score (1088). Senior Brianna Haith also posted a total of 1059 on the day. The Blue Devils travel to Classic Bowl on Monday to face New Trier and then will compete in the Vernon Hills tournament at Hawthorn Bowlero on Saturday.
CHEERLEADING
The cheerleaders competed in the Stevenson Invite today. The JV team took an impressive 3rd place in their division! The varsity team well also. Despite not having a full squad all week due to injury and illness they brought it together today with a better score than they had last week. The team is off from competition until the Lake Zurich Invite on January 6th.
DEVILETTES
The Devilettes competed in the Stevenson Invite Sunday night. The varsity performed well and placed 5th out of 20 teams. The JV also did quite well placing 3rd out of 12 teams. Next is the Palatine Invitational on January 11th.
GYMNASTICS
The Blue Devils competed in the Conant Invite on Saturday. The team took 8th place overall. Sharon Dhali placed 5th on the vault and she tied for 11th place in the All-Around. Next up is the Lake Forest Invitational on January 11th.
BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING
The Blue Devils started the week with a dual meet against Waukegan. Both levels won.
The JV had an invite at Libertyville and had a great meet. JV 1 place 2nd place overall and JV 2 4th place overall. The team earned quite a few medals on both JV 1 and JV 2. The team had a few races where they were in last place and pulled out a second place finishes! The boys swam awesome!

WRESTLING
Varsity Wrestling
This past Friday night, Warren Wrestlers defeated Lake Forest (48-18). Falls were recorded by Zach Dabney, Armando Barranday, Sean Stichauf, Jiang Lei Steinlein, Jamal Patterson, Cam Domke, and Joel Vandervere. This was a dominant performance by your Blue Devils. On Saturday, the Grappling Blue Devils saw their first tournament competition of the year. Traveling to Downers Grove South for their first and only team tournament, the Blue Devils went 2-1 in the initial round robin and then 2 -0 in the silver bracket championship matches to end up placing 5th in the 16 team tournament. The day brought the varsity dual team record to 10 – 4. Joel Vandervere and Cam Domke went undefeated for the day and were awarded outstanding wrestlers. Isaiah Parker also made his triumphant return to the lineup going 6 – 0 on the weekend. He also receiving outstanding wrestler honors. Besides these fantastic individual performances, 19 of the 20 wrestlers Warren brought scored points for the Blue Devils. They wrestling some good teams, continued to improve as the day moved along, and the guys really battled for each other!
Junior Varsity Wrestling:
The JV Team defeated Fake Forest 33-32 on Friday night. We were led by Zach Sutor, Nevan Mitrovic, Steve Pilgrim, and Phil Hird, with pins. On Saturday, the JV Team placed 3rd at the Niles North Invite. The team was led by:
Jondell Vazquez (126) 1st place with 3 pins and Dom Rasmussen (285) 1st place with 2 pins. Dom defeated a former WTHS wrestler (Marquesean Taylor) that now attends Zion Benton in the finals with a fall. Also making the finals, Mirza Baig (160) 2nd place with 2 pins and a decision, fought through a tough match to get into the finals and Phil Hird (182) 2nd place with a pin and a decision, won a hard fought match in the semis to secure a come from behind win 7-6. He showed some true grit. Avery Gilbert (138) 4th place with 1 pin, fought through a tough 1st match to secure a win from behind and lost a tough 3rd place match, had to fight off his back many times in both matches. Steve Pilgrim (152) NP with 2 pins. Jalen Meriweather (195) 3rd place with 3 pins. Jalen also won the most falls in the least amount of time award. He received a nice award plaque. Jalen took some good coaching from Coach McCaffrey.
Frosh Wrestling:
Warren freshmen beat Lake Forest 60-21 to bring their record to 6-1. Outstanding performance: Isaiah Patino. They won 19 of 43 matches at our blocked weight event.
